And while it may be in vogue to become an entrepreneur, I find most people never actually take action. They just WANT to be an entrepreneur without actually doing the hard work required to figure out something that will work for themselves.

In fact I made a model of what I think is going on here:

As you can see, not everyone is even interested in entrepreneurship and reading up on it like you are. But even less people will actually find a business model, take action and get results. That’s the “secret”. If you keep working at it you will eventually find something that works for you.

I started my own side business the same year I started my day job. Back then the stat I heard was 1 in 7 full time employed people also have their own business on the side.

But now that number appears to be 1 in 4 people with a day job have started their own business.

“A [2018] survey from The Hartford found that 25 percent of Americans, which equates to approximately 57 million people, own a side business (a business that is not their primary source of income). The majority of side business owners surveyed have full-time jobs”

This number surprised me because just think about your day job, and look around at the people you work with, and on average 25% of them are what I call Night Entrepreneurs and building their own thing after work.

In fact – so many people are Night Entrepreneurs now that if you have a day job but don’t have a side hustle yet I think you may actually be falling behind.
